PRAYER AVAILETH MUCH
James 5:14-16 states, "Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."
For years the word availeth confused me. Then I learned that availeth simply meant to be helpful or useful. This scripture gave me hope because my prayers were being heard, and they were beneficial to me. By confessing my sins and asking for forgiveness I was lessening the load I carried everyday. Also by praying, I was opening a constant stream of communication from me to my God. It is better than email, snail mail, instagram, facebook, or twitter. My God is real, not a fantasy; and prayer is communication with God, not talking with something that cannot hear or answer me.
So, if you wish to join in prayer with the St. Mark family, do so now!
