If St. Mark sounds like your kind of church home,
come for a visit...stay for a lifetime.
In our day, where there is a church on every corner, and every thing is changing constantly, St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church is the traditionally, rooted church in which our grandparents were raised.
When was the last time, in church, deacons and deaconess, walked to the front of the church and led the congregation in knee bent prayers and call and response spirituals and hymns that all ages knew and could connect to the Almighty through, while honoring and uplifting the African heritage? That happens here all the time.
When was the last time, in church, a hymn was sung, and then the spirit took the congregation into a quiet moan, afterwhich the musician began a vibrant, foot stomping, hand waving, "hold my mule" praise/worship song? Well, that is a constant at SMBC
When was the last time, in church, the shepherd began teaching the congregation, and that lesson transformed into a powerful, heart burning, convicting sermon that brought tears to your eyes and joy to your soul? Yes, that is bread and butter to St. Mark.
When was the last time, in church, you saw toddlers, teens, young adults, and senior prayer warriors worshipping and working for God's kingdom? Once again, SMBC has this. St. Mark is a mixture of souls, a true community--not just the young or just the experienced.
When was the last time, in church, you actually met a pastor who knew his flock personally? That's St. Mark.
St. Mark believes that if the God of yesterday brought us thus far, He will take us confidently into the future. Here, remembering and celebrating what was is the way that we prepare for what will be!
